About Coach

Coach Guiot decided to put together a blog that documents some thoughts and memories and especially highlights his former players that are also in the coaching world.  It is a work in progress that brings back laughs and of course you know Jeff Guiot loves to tell stories.  We welcome players, co-workers and fans to join in with comments and updates.

Jeff Guiot's Basketball History:  After graduating from Chanute High School in Chanute, Kansas, Jeff had the unique opportunity to play for four different coaches in four years at college.  He was recruited to Kansas University by Ted Owens.  His sophomore year, Larry Brown took over the Jayhawk program.  Guiot played his junior season at Pittsburg State for Jerry Reynolds who left to coach the Sacramento Kings.  His senior year at Pittsburg State, he was coached by Ken Ash.   Having to make adjustments to four different coaching styles also gave him a chance to see the game of basketball from many different perspectives.  Jeff knew he wanted to be a basketball coach so he tried to learn as much as possible to use later.  There is no substitute for personal experience.  Some great conversations occurred between Jeff Guiot and assistant coaches such as John Calipari, Jo Jo White, and Bob Hill.

Coaching:
Coach Guiot started his coaching career at a small Missouri school which is not even in existence now (Schell City, MO).  He then went back to Pittsburg State to complete a master’s degree.
